Over the years I have worked and participated at various retail stores and school projects which have helped me develop window displaying skills. I am aware of how to create eye-catching product displays that will bring in a greater flow to a store.
Visual Merchandising Experience
Discovery Clothing
Over the past three years I have worked at Discovery Clothing. I have gotten the opportunity to work my way up from a sales associate to authorizer. My responsibilities include maintaining a clean store, ringing up customers, helping customers, and assisting managers if they require help. While on the floor I have developed the ability to learn what sells and how the way it is displayed can affect the sales. I have gotten the opportunity to create multiple window displays. I have also gotten the chance to create jewelry displays. This experience will help me as a future visual merchandiser as I will have the skills and knowledge when it comes to merchandising displays.
Team Blonde
During the winter of 2018, I alongside two other women were assigned to create a fall inspired window display for a small boutique. Over the course of a couple weeks we met with the owners to discuss concepts and ideas we'd like to do. This experience gave me a chance to experience creating a window display in a small space. I was able to learn how to utilize every corner and how to bring focus to important products and services.
Visual Merchandising Competition
During the spring of 2018, I alongside another women entered a visual merchandising competition. We needed to come up with a theme and mood board for it. We wanted to create a whimsical window display with light colors and soft looking garments. Our concept won us the competition and the window display was a hit. It attracted the attention of students and staff. This was a great experience!
Fashion Show Dresser
For two years I have had the opportunity to be a dresser for my school's annual fashion show. As a fashion show dresser my responsibilities included assisting models with dressing up, ensuring that the provided clothes and their accessories suited the models, as well as making any finishing touches by ensuring that accessories stayed in place and that the clothes were properly set on the models. This experience helped me possess a deep insight about the fashion world and any new trends. As a visual merchandiser, being aware of new trends will help me create show stopping displays.
